What We Treat

Lifeline Chiropractic Mission Statement

Back and Neck Pain

Living in suburban Washington Country often involves hours of driving, and then spending our days hunched over computers, desks or literally putting your back into your work.  Naturally, this causes a lot of strain on our backs, but it also creates neck problems. Next to back pain, neck pain is the second most common ailment that our chiropractors treat. Like lower back pain, abnormalities in the soft tissues: muscles, ligaments, nerves, as well as the joints of the spine develop with prolonged wear and tear, repetitive task and bad posture. This can cause symptoms that range from mild discomfort to shooting pains down your arms, such as the case with pinched nerves. Our chiropractors address these issues identifying and treating these abnormalities to bring your pain relief from back and neck pain.

JOINT PAIN AND ARTHRITIS

Arthritis has over one hundred different conditions; the most widely known types of arthritis are osteoarthritis (OA) also known as Degenerative Joint Disease, and rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Osteoarthritis is a low-grade inflammation that erodes cartilage and depletes the amount of synovial fluid, the substance that cushions and lubricates the joint area. Rheumatoid arthritis is an inflammatory disorder wherein the immune system attacks its own joints. Many individuals with arthritis rely on chiropractors for natural arthritic pain relief. Through chiropractic treatments, subluxated or “locked up” are safely corrected through manipulation. Regular adjustments can assist individuals with arthritis to be more mobile and reduce stresses that can potentially cause further discomfort.

Repetitive Stress Injuries

Breakdown and repair of the soft tissues of the body is a naturally ongoing process. When this process is out of balance due to either increased use or impaired healing, repetitive stress injuries can occur. Repeated physical task, such as typing, can wear on the tendons, nerves, ligaments and muscles, creating inflammation on the fibrous layers of soft tissue. This is caused by a mechanical irritation in the body which chiropractic can address. Our chiropractors will help restore the balance the natural process of healthy breakdown and repair of the soft tissues in the body.

Sports and Exercise Injuries

Sports enthusiasts and this with active lifestyles are all likely to suffer from the occasional activity related injury. These often may be the result of insufficient stretching and warm up, or even result from years of poor posture or an undetected spine or joint problem. The best response is to promptly address and treat the injury. Continuing on with the injury may prolong the healing process and could ultimately lead to a chronic issue. Chiropractic treatment aims to restore normal function to your joints and muscles that may have resulted from your injury.

Headaches and Migraines

The most common causes of headache are dysfunction of the joints in the neck, physical trauma, emotional stress, nutritional imbalance, dehydration and visual strain. Chiropractors treat the cause of the pain not just the pain itself through a series of specific, drug-free manipulation and adjustment techniques. The outcome is to mobilize the joints commonly responsible for the headaches and migraines; neck joints, while also stretching, relaxing and strengthening the muscles in the neck and scalp.

Pregnancy-related Muscle/Joint Pain
